JUST ADDED - A NEW GEOMETRY NODE STYLIZED TOON EYE with Eyelids and Eyelashes

Video guide on using the new GN toon eye

Stylized rig-ready cartoon eyelids controlled by very easy and simple material shaders (no fiddling with lattices and shape keys).  No need for shape keys or lattices.  You can scale the eye for different shapes as desired.

Includes all the variations covered in my DadsCastle Blender tutorials on YouTube!  There are both geometry node and procedural eyelids, as well as eyelashes. There is also a simple rig to demonstrate how to use eye and eyelid drivers.  You can select two different procedural eyes - simple toon and stylized -  however they should work on most eyeball shaders that are based on a UV Sphere.

Note: the procedural lids can become a bit unstable when adding the eyelashes (particularly when near fully open lids) due to buggy behavior of the Mesh Boolean node.  The geometry node lids are generally a better choice if using eyelashes.

UPDATED October 7, 2024: Added a Geometry node stylized toon eye to the collection.

UPDATED May 5, 2024: The included addon now automates rigging procedural eyes with Auto-Rig Pro.

UPDATED March 10, 2024: Now includes an addon to automatically duplicate and place the eyes onto a character with temporary eyes.

UPDATED June 24, 2024: Minor fix to stylized pupil color control.

Basic controls for Geometry Node eyelids (controls for procedural eyes further below):

Lid Controls: The lids are controlled in the Modifier Properties panel (wrench icon).  There are controls for top lid open/close, bottom lid open/close, and top lid angle.  Since the eyes are procedural, it is best to view in 'material preview' mode in Viewport Shading.  The lids can be easily animated using drivers with whatever rig you choose.

The eyeball rotation for the procedural eyes v1 are controlled in the Material Properties tab:

A step by step video tutorial on how to make and operate the eyelids is here: Eyelid video tutorial

Tutorials for rigging the eyes, procedural eyelids, and geometry node eyelashes are on the DadsCastle YouTube Channel.

Basic Controls for Procedural Eyelids:

Version 1

Version 2 (w Pupil Controller)

The pupil is controlled by moving the ring empty (Proc Eyelid_Pupil_Ctrl). The eyelids are moved up and down using the plain axis-type empties (Lid_Ctrl.Top/Lid_Ctrl.Bottom).

Eyelid color is defined by the color ramp node in the eyelid shader.

Then change the colors on the color ramp. The middle color tab is the border color. Adjust thickness by moving it left or right.

A step by step video tutorial on how to rig the eyelids is here: Blender Tutorial - Rigging Procedural Eyes with Auto Rig Pro

NOTE: the tutorial is for geometry node eyelids, but it's the same process, just create drivers in the Material Properties tab rather than the Modifier Properties tab.

Enjoy and have a great day!
